The "Premio Faraglioni" is an award conceived and organized by the "Pro Loco Arte di Capri", an association which has been dedicated for many years to the promotion and dissemination of art and culture on Capri. It is an acknowledgement of quality at its highest level, regardless of fashion and current trends, which has been awarded to distinguished celebrities since 1994.

The event has been organized under the auspices of the President of the Republic and the patronage of the Campania Region, the Province of Naples, the City of Capri and the Tourist Bureau of the Island of Capri.

By instituting this prestigious award, every year dedicated to prominent personalities in the fields of culture, art, entertainment, theatre, cinema, television, music, dance, and literature, the "Pro Loco Arte di Capri" has focused on creating an event of national and international importance. The selection is based on nominations from well-known people in show business and culture which help form its roster of candidates.

The "Premio Faraglioni" now in its seventeenth edition, has been awarded as follows:

Worthy of note was the success it received from both the public and the critics, and the excellent reception it won on public TV stations as well as private, and with the press, right from the very first edition.

The prize "Il Premio Faraglioni", is a sculpture cast in silver portraying the "Faraglioni" rocks of Capri, the work of Neapolitan goldsmiths and designed by the jewellery boutique "Pierino" of Anacapri. It is awarded every year to a single candidate, and has become an icon of Italian culture and fashion.

The "Premio" is intended to be a meaningful acknowledgement of a great personality considered to have a unique value in the world of culture, art and entertainment, just as the Faraglioni of Capri are one-of-a-kind, part of the breathtaking setting offered by the "blue island", the focal point of the artistic and cultural community throughout Italy and the World.

Just as always, a large number of experts and qualified persons are expected to be present among the public not only due to the excellence of the event, but also because of the reputation of the venue and the success of the earlier editions.

Its superb backdrop will be the historic Charterhouse of St. James.

The "Premio Faraglioni" has become by now one of the most interesting, enthralling, high-profile events of the summer, but what sets it apart is the exceptional worth of the individual invested with the honour, to which its previous winners bear witness.

The Evening Gala event will be hosted by a well-known TV presenter and attended by celebrities of the art, entertainment and cultural community, as well as those belonging to the sponsoring institutions.

The evening's program includes a visual presentation of the winner's path to success in his or her profession, an interview, a public talk show, a performance by him or her, participation of well-known members of the cultural, artistic and entertainment community, and the official presentation of the award.

There will also be a press conference with the award winner, the institutional sponsors, the organizers, and guest members of the artistic, cultural and entertainment community.

The evening of the official award in the 2011 edition will also be televised by the RAI.

Various artistic and cultural events will be organized during the period dedicated to the Premio Faraglioni.
